JANUARY/FEBRUARY
I would like to thank everyone for your generiosity this past Christmas. It is really appreciated! We have a very exciting couple of months planned, and I continue to encourage each student to make sure that they are studying and completing homework assignments on time!
In sixth grade Social Studies, we will be studying Ancient China before moving on to Ancient Greece. We have many activities planned and will be learning about many things that we have borrowed from Greece like the Olympics and democracy. Students are doing a fantastic job on their assignments, and I encourage them to keep up the good work!
In seventh grade Social Studies, we are studying the American Revolution. We are learning about the battles of the Revolution followed by the results. We will be reading a novel to correspond to this chapter. We will then be moving on to the making of the Constitution, and students will be creating their own board games relating to this important document in our nation's history.
In eighth grade Social Studies, we are currently working on a document-based question essay on the Progressive movement. We will then be learning about the expansion of the United States, and will participate in a debate deciding whether or not the U.S. should have expanded in the late 1800s-early 1900s.
I am hoping for a great second semester!
