Do not forget the Black and Gold Gala in on Saturday February 4th. I hope to see you there. Mr. Csizmar and I will be selling split club chances from 7:30 -8:00. Kindergarten will be celebrating St. Valentine's Day on Tuesday, February 14. Please make sure that your child has a valentine for everyone in the class. I sent a class list home to help you. We will be having our winter break starting after school on February 17. We will return to school on Monday, February 27. My out of town children are coming to town to visit us that week. I can hardly wait.
Our decodable stories are getting harder and longer with more words that the children have to sound out (Read). We are now learning 2 "memory" words with each lesson. We also now know 2 vowels a and i (short sound). Please have the children read their books to you and go over the "memory" words with them using the flash cards that we have been making. Some of the children seem to be struggling writing numbers above 10. They really need to be able to do this. Maybe a little extra practice at home would help.
We are moving right along in Science, Social Studies, Health, and Religion. Our class has started working on all their projects for the Science Fair in March. Most of the children are doing a beautiful job printing their letters and numbers. There are a few who have not made much progress in their printing since September. They need to work on this.
St. Andrew's will be holding 3 open houses. The first one was on Sunday January 29 from 12 - 2. The second is on Wednesday, February 29 and the third is on Sunday, March 11. If you have any friends who might be interested in sending their children to St. Andrews, please tell them about our open houses.
