Learning to be accountable and responsible for homework is extremely important. This will help your child be prepared for the demands that he/she will face in the years to come. Please check your child's planner nightly to ensure that homework is done.

Students in second
grade will generally have homework on a daily basis. This homework is a
reinforcement of skills covered in class. Parents are encouraged to
review their child's planner, homework, and key concepts that we have covered
in class. Math facts, sight words, and phonics rules should be reviewed
frequently at home. Most assignments will need to be completed and sent
back the following day. The assignments given should take no longer than 20
minutes to complete. Students are expected to complete and return
all homework. Other than a quick review of our spelling words, I normally do not assign homework on Friday because I
believe that "weekend family time" is essential!
