Classroom News

Our Reading Center provides support and intervention for students who are struggling with reading and writing. In addition, test accommodations can be provided in the Math and Reading Centers for students with IEP or 504 plans.

Students scoring a 2 or below on New York State Assessments automatically qualify for Math and/or Reading Center services.  Students can also be added based on teacher or parent request, if space is available.

Homework

The goal of Reading Center is to provide support for the students in cooperation with their ELA teacher.  Students struggling with study skills, reading comprehension, phonics, spelling, theme or vocabulary words in any subject may bring their assignments to Mrs. Biggie for extra help.

Grading Policy

Grading Policy: Reading Center is an ungraded, support oriented class.  Improvement in skills should be reflected in the student’s quarterly ELA grades and in New York State test scores.
