Negative Consequences
1st Incident: The teacher will speak with the student to remind him/her of the expectations and why the action was not appropriate. The teacher will clarify that the student needs to meet expectations immediately following the conversation.
2nd Incident: The teacher will speak to the student again and the student will fill out a behavior journal explaining which expectation was not met, why it was not met and how the student could have responded to make sure that it was met. The behavior journal will be sent home for the student’s parent/guardian to sign.
3rd Incident: The teacher will speak to the student again and will contact the parent/guardian by email, note or by phone.
4th Incident: If the student does not show improvement, and the expectations are not met, a detention will be assigned.
Positive Consequences
Students who demonstrate all classroom expectations or who do something beyond what is required may receive a positive consequence. These may include: positive phone call home, prize from the prize box, homework pass.
**Please note that not all students are the same and consequences may need to vary depending on the individual situation at the teacher’s discretion.
