The 5th-8th grade students are currently participating in a great aerobic activity in their P.E. class.  They are playing hockey and really getting their heart rates up and working up a sweat.  St. Andrew's may have a future Sabres player in their midst.

THE ANNUAL STUDENT - FACULTY VOLLEYBALL GAME will be played ON 2/3/12, immediately after the 8:30 AM Mass.  Preceding the game, the St. Andrew's Cheerleader will have a Pep Rally.  GO LANCERS!!

 

THE MISSION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION  IS TO ENABLE ALL STUDENTS TO SUSTAIN REGULAR, LIFELONG PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AS A FOUNDATION FOR A HEALTHY, PRODUCTIVE AND FULFILLING LIFE.

EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR CLASS AND OTHER RULES AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. St. Andrew's gym uniform and sneakers with good support.
2. White gym socks.
3. A towel to wipe off perspiration after a very active gym class.
4. Deodorant (stick or roll-on only, NO SPRAY CANS).
5. A bag to help organize your belongings.
6. PLEASE WRITE YOUR NAME ON ALL OF YOUR ITEMS!!!
7. No jewelry, hard hair clips or hard head bands allowed.
8. No gum, food or drink is allowed in the gym.
9. When it is necessary, a written excuse from a parent or doctor must be brought in. This allows the student re-admittance into class and the student will not be marked unprepared. If the student has been under doctor's care for an injury or illness, a doctor's note is necessary; otherwise a parent's note is sufficient.
10. Please bring a positive attitude so that you will try your hardest to achieve your goals without putting yourself or others down.

 

 

                           

February is National Heart Month and our 7th grade health students have created posters on healthy behaviors for a healthy heart. 

Here are just a few tips from our students.

1.  Eat a balanced diet low in sodium, fat and cholesterol and high in omega 3.

2.  Do aerobic exercises to strengthen your cardiovascular system.

3.  Don't smoke!!

4.  Take the stairs and not the elevator or escalator.

5.   Maintain a healthy weight.  Being overweight can put stress on your heart.

1. One subject/spiral notebook for Socratic activities and note taking.
2. 2 inch binder plus 5 dividers to organize notes, tests, handouts and work sheets.
3. Pen or pencil.
4. 1 pack of index cards

YOUR GRADE FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS IS DETERMINED BY THE
FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

1. BEING PREPARED AND ON TIME: (25% of total grade). You need to wear your St. Andrew's
gym uniform and sneakers. You have 5 minutes at the beginning and at the end of each class for
changing.
2. ACHIEVEMENT: (25% of total grade). Physical ability in individual units.
3. EFFORT: (25% of total grade). How hard you try during each class, how attentive you are and
how you follow directions.
4. CONDUCT: (25% of total grade). Proper behavior, how you work in a group, and how you
display self control and a Christian attitude and behavior.

PHys. Ed.

1. Proper and safe behavior is expected by all students in Physical Education class. Improper conduct will not be tolerated. A Disciplinary Referral will be administered if your behavior warrants it.

2. a. Tardy = entering the gym from the locker room more than five minutes after the scheduled start
time or leaving the locker room late after the bell rang.
b. Being tardy 3 times = 1 unprepared.
c. Every 2 times unprepared = 1 lunch detention

3. BE ON TIME AND BE PREPARED!!

 


Health

PROCEDURES AND RULES FOR HEALTH CLASS:

1. BE ON TIME and in your seat before the late bell rings. A late pass from your previous class is necessary if you are late.
2. BE PREPARED for each class. Be prepared with homework, read materials in order to be prepared to participate in class discussions, and study for all tests.
3. HOMEWORK is expected to be handed in on the date it is due. LATE HOMEWORK is not acceptable and 10 points will be deducted on the first day.  The teacher will deduct an additional 10 points on the second day.  If the student has not turned the assignment in by the third day, the parents will be contacted and the student will make up the assignment during after school detention, lunch detention or during free time (primary grades).  The student will receive 75% credit for the assignment.                                                                            

4.  READ THE DRY ERASE BOARD when you first come into class and follow those  directions.
5. LISTEN TO DIRECTIONS AND BE QUIET WHEN OTHERS ARE TALKING. Raise
your hand when you wish to speak or answer a question.
6. BE RESPECTFUL to everyone in the class and to their belongings. Keep your hands to yourself.
7. IF YOU ARE ABSENT, all missed class work is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. If you
need a handout or an assignment, or if you need to take a test that you missed, you will need to see me before, during or after school to get caught up.
8. 3 STRIKES AND YOU ARE OUT!! If you misbehave, are disrespectful, or disrupt
class, your name will be written on the chalkboard with one strike X. Second offense two strikes XX. Third offense-three strikes XXX. You will receive a detention a Disciplinary Notice.
