Grading Policy

Grades will be determined by using the "total points" method. When using this method, grades are calculated by dividing the total points a student received throughout the marking period, by the total points available in the class.

Evaluation methods include; tests, quizzes, homework, labs, projects and class participation.

 

Classroom Procedures & Expectations

1. Entering the Classroom

Upon entering the classroom, report directly to your assigned seat. Look at the front and side boards for directions. Have your materials out. Please record all assignments and additional information in your agenda.

2. Class Rules

 Arrive to class on time.
 Be prepared for class.
 Follow all directions.
 Respect the rights, feelings and property of others.
 Work in a "safe" manner at all times.

3. Absentee Policy

If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to fInd out what you missed and to make-up the work within one week. Failure to do so may result in losing credit or receiving a ZERO for missing assignments. IF YOU ARE ABSENT, you should follow the following steps on the day you return:

Check the assignments written on the side board to see if anything was assigned while you were absent.
 Ask people in the class what was missed and copy any notes missed.
Check the class binder for an update on handouts and due dates~
 Check folders on the back counter for copies of handouts missed.
Schedule time for help if you are still confused.
Write the word "ABSENT" at the top of the assignment(s) you turn in late due to being absent.

Living Environment (Team 8-1)

1. Laboratory and Scientific Inquiry Skills

Critical to understanding science concepts is the use of scientific
inquiry to develop explanations of natural phenomena. Therefore,
as a prerequisite for admission to the Regents examination in the
Living Environment, students must have successfully completed
1200 minutes of laboratory experience with satisfactory written
reports for each laboratory investigation.
