GRADING POLICY                       4th grade 2011-2012

All Subjects:

HOMEWORK 10%   Each subject will have weekly assignments that will be corrected for a grade at teacher’s discretion. These assignments are not morning work that might need completion for a day.

Homework assignments include all quiz and test papers to be signed by a parent. This is the school policy.

Math workbook pages are not always corrected to have a grade. Homework will be corrected daily; student will self correct with teacher assistance.

Rubric used for effort in completing workbook assignments:                If the student has done assignment completely and on time – student will receive a 3. If partially complete with little attempt or a day late student will receive a 2, more than one day late a 1. If assignment is not done at all student will receive a zero. These homework scores will be tallied at the end of each quarter and added to grade calculation for report card grade.

This includes all quiz and test papers to be signed by a parent.

At least one assignment per week will be corrected for a grade not included in the above rubric.

CLASSWORK 25% Work to be done in the classroom is extremely important as it assists the teacher in evaluating the progress of student work and capability of independent success. It helps to evaluate if re-teaching is necessary. Not all class work will be corrected for a grade.

PARTICICPATION 15% Evaluation will be made by teacher based on students volunteering to answer questions as well as asking questions in class during discussions. Opportunities will be given for each student to become more comfortable participating in class through the school year. Co-operative learning situations will be used continuously as well as peer tutoring.
